Can Art Change The World?

The citizen´s participating in Miroslaw Balka´s artwork Signals perform visual signs with red flags in the city space. These visual signs unfold into important messages that indicate worry about the future developments of their neighborhood, will to understand and be part of the processes planning the future and to do it together. Art offers a space and time where to imagine how the change might look like, but does art processes generate real change?

A group of Finnish and foreign experts in the field of socially engaged art projects come together in these presentations introducing projects that aim towards social change. With Eyal Danon, Arja Elovirta, Jeanne van Heeswijk, Pablo Helguera and Nato Thompson. Philosopher´s point of view is presented by Thomas Wallgren.
