Curator and art critic Kateryna Filyuk organises this circle, which explores the experiences of Ukrainians during times of war. These public circle gatherings centre on Ukrainian LGBTQ+ makers and these from Eastern Ukraine, who had to flee, for what seems now, forever. Despite being of completely different realities, both often times still have to fight their own battles while being at the at the actual battlefield. On 17 June, we will have a gathering featuring the performances’ Territory and People’ by Maria Plotnikova and ‘One by one, Needles pokingpocking through, the heart of mine’ by Boji Moroz.

On 23 June, Kateryna Aliinyk and Dmytro Chepurnyi deliver their performative lecture ‘Collective Fantasies and Eastern Resources’.

Deze cirkel is samengesteld door curator en kunstcriticus Kateryna Filyuk en gaat in op ervaringen van Oekraïners in tijden van oorlog. Deze publieke cirkelsamenkomsten richten zich op de ervaringen van LGBTQ+ gemeenschappen en de gemeenschappen uit Oost-Oekraïne, die beide gemarginaliseerd worden en gedurende de oorlog ook nog hun eigen strijd te voeren hebben.

Een performatieve lezing van Kateryna Aliinyks "Who else eats life with a spoon?" verkent de ethiek van het alledaagse leven in de context van de Russische bezetting. Aliinyks feministische perspectief werpt licht op de oorlog die in 2014 begon in de regio's Luhansk en Donetsk. De performatieve lezing biedt een dieper inzicht in de impact van oorlog op individuen, families en gemeenschappen, en geeft commentaar op de bredere sociale en politieke kwesties in Oekraïne.
